First off... *GIANT HUG*

I have been absolutely bawling my eyes out for days as I read the continuos press releases out there saying what a failure we were, how we tricked everyone, how we wasted time and money for nothing, and how all of us who lead up the project apparently had the intelligence of a retarded rock. I haven't handled it well at all.

Reading this article makes me feel a heck of a lot better. At least we know some folks out there like us, even if its just a little.

Don't want to turn this into a soap opera about Liz, just wanted to thank you for posting it and thinking of me. That means more than anything. Blush

Nobody in life gets exactly what they thought they were going to get.
But if you work really hard and you're kind, amazing things will happen.

Girl friend your welcome, I'm glad this did make you feel better. What else could I do for a friend. Plus I'm so damn proud to know you after all it's not just anyone who can design a rocket and get the darn thing off the ground without it going BOOM!!! Let the idiots who wrote those releases do it, I bet they couldn't do it in ten lifetimes. Just keep up the great job down in Florida.
Love

RE: Liz's Rocket named best invention
Well Liz,

I haven't been watching the news very much lately (I fall asleep in that evil chair whenever I try to watch) so I wasn't aware that your marvelous achievement had been considered a failure by anyone.

I cannot think of any way to call a perfect test flight a failure, it isn't like the Spruce Goose that only the designer would attempt to fly and then only to prove it could so he recoup the losses in it as a museum.

Never listen to the people in the media - they cannot do any of the things that they criticize so it is just their way of making themselves feel good about their lack of knowledge.

love ya,
Sally

I agree with Sally.

The media just looks for the way to get the strongest reaction out of people to sell themselves. It sadly lead to this but none of them could do somthing as great as you did. Be proud!

Liz, you know how I feel about you and your fantastic achievements. The only reason some people are saying
negative stuff is because the program itself is being discontinued, and they need something to point to as a reason
besides politics, even if it makes no sense whatsoever.

You just keep holding your head high and be proud of what you did. We sure are!

Wow, you actually heard of it? Everywhere outside of the space center, people just give me a funny look if I said I worked on Ares I-X. I was actually the senior engineer on the project, and ran the program during the night shift (3pm till 6am). Blush Still the proudest achievement of my entire career, and thats saying a lot since I was a lead engineer for two space shuttles for several years. Big Grin Probably sharing to many details... but its hard to hold back. If you want to know more, just PM me and I will send you some up close and personal photos.

In the mean time, enjoy this video from someone who... uh... was with me every second of every day and used my computer to make it. Dodgy Tongue

I... I mean "they"... yeah... got a lot of credit for this behind the scenes video, first of its kind from NASA. Smile
